OS INCRIVEIS
Japanese article

Os Incriveis "Kokoro no Niji(Arco-Iris Azul)"

One day I was told about strange 45 in '60s. It was Os Incriveis ' "Kokoro no Niji".It was brazilian cover version of Japanese song which was released in '68.
The 45 ripped off the Japanese logo type of the song.

"What is it??? I've never hard about such a cover version"

The cover photo seems be taken in Hokkaido, north area of Japan. According to the ad behind them, the photo was taken in a small town where was famous by coal mine.

And the back cover photo was ad of their show.

Os Incriveis   April 6th to 14
"they play any kind of music, popular song, bosanoba, eleki(surf),and comic!"
charge 200yen(about a half price of a 45 =too cheep)
coffee restrain Mermaid

It seems this band came to Japan and  had a gig at coffee restrain in low charge.
So at first we assumed they are unknown band in Brazil so they came to Japan to held local gig
at a coffee restrain. Because at the time any famous band did not come local tour except Ventures.
The song "Kokoro no niji " was moody popular hit here by The blue comets. This original was released in Jan '68.
The Blue Comets were a rival GS who lead GS boom along with The Spiders. But at the time when they released "Kokoro no niji " they changed their style from beat to more moody.

This cover version "Arco-Iris Azul" is sung in Portuguese and in Japanese. Good cover version. They had good feeling and high technique.

"Wow who were they???"

Anyway the sound is quite different from garage punk.Nevertheless I want to know unknown history of Brazilian '60s band between Japanese .

So I asked some Brazilian about them. And a friend sent me their stuff including the 45.

This is their EP which was released in '69. See the cover "No Japao" .The rising sun mark was a symbol of Japanese Navy.(sure there is no army here but the mark remind us Japan  same as national flag)
And maybe the photo is taken in Japan.
A-1 is the song "Kokoro no Niji "again. And A-2 was "I Love You Tokyo", another moody hit by Japanese band called Los Primos(they are not GS, but a moody cholas band ,the sound oriented Latin music . so they chose the name). Os Incriveis sung the song in  Japanese . On the flip they sung original song called "Sayonara Sayonara" along with instrumental number.

These 45 and EP are released on Brazilian RCA. So they must be not unknown band there.

I got a few information about them
They started as a name The Cleavers in early '60s. They were one of fame rock'n' roll band.

This is their '65 relese. As you assume by the cover photo, this is  kingsmen's style rock'n' roll . In '66 they released cover of "Piangei Com Me" (Let's Live For Today). It seems they became a beat combo.

For me this band style is interesting. Because The Blue Comets was a band who closed to Kingsmen in early '60s too. They are rare beat band who featured Saxophone. Actually when I listen Os Incriveis' Lucille it remind me the same song by The Blue Comets.
(And The Blue comets was the only Japanese band who appeared Ed Salivan show)

They released many record there and in Argentina they released an album in Spanish as Los Increbles.

this is their another album called "Internationals", it seems they covered songs around the world. They covered the Japanese songs again along with Konck On Wood ,I Feel Goom , Teamo( I love you by The Zombies),Israel.

But I don't know lots about them. So please let me know if you know something about them!
And I 'm looking for any information about '60s Japanese immigrant band in South America who covered Japanese GS.(I 've hard only Los Doltons)
